Barry E. Johnson is an award-winning communicator, leader and innovator with strong relationship skills and demonstrated success in public relations, marketing communications, organization management, community engagement, public policy and philanthropy. He is the immediate past president and chief executive officer of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, where he also served as president of the Chamber’s 501(c)(3). Barry joined the Chamber from AT&T where he was vice president for corporate affairs and public relations, establishing national benchmarks for local branding, public relations, media relations and community engagement initiatives. Prior to joining AT&T, Barry anchored, reported and produced radio and television news for several ABC and Mutual Broadcasting affiliated stations.
Barry is a member of the Orange Bowl Committee and the board of trustees of HistoryMiami, the board of directors of the Deering Estate Foundation, the Missouri State University Alumni Association and the Zeta Chi Chapter Alumni Association of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
He is a graduate of Missouri State University, with a Comprehensive Bachelor of Science degree in Communication and Persuasion with emphasis on the electronic media. He was recently was honored by Missouri State with its Outstanding Alumni Award.
